Burbank Beats Hoover; Burroughs Blanks Glendale

The Burbank High School varsity baseball team defeated host Hoover High in Glendale, 6-1, in a Pacific League game last Friday.
Jimmy Cafferty, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, a run and a walk, racked up nine strikeouts over five innings with three walks, two hits and one earned run to pick up a win while Julian Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs. Ryan Sebastion recorded a double and two RBIs, Ben Castillo tallied a double and a run, and Joe Maslyk finished with a double. Senior Matthew Schwartz and Danny Edwards each pitched a hitless and scoreless inning of relief, Miklo Reynoso and Danny Betancourt each had a hit and a run, and Dylan Wierbilis walked once.
The Bulldogs (8-4 overall, 5-3 in league) will visit Saugus for a nonleague game Saturday at 11 a.m. before opening a two-game league series at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on April 11.

BURROUGHS

The Bears recently posted a pair of Pacific League road wins against Glendale, 11-0, and Pasadena, 3-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
JBHS (9-6 overall, 6-1 in league) will open a two-game league series at Arcadia on Tuesday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m.
