The Burbank High School varsity football team fell to Santa Fe High 52-28 in a nonleague game in Santa Fe Springs on Aug. 25.
Junior quarterback Daniel Zacariaz completed 19-of-35 passes for 198 yards with three touchdowns. Junior Ezekiel Alvarez caught seven passes for 86 yards with a pair of touchdowns and scored a two-point conversion. Junior Joseph Caballero made two catches for 32 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 25 yards on eight carries and returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Sophomore Noah May-Vaughn made four receptions for 46 yards while junior Jacob Mendieta had five carries for 22 yards and three receptions for 8 yards. Senior Jake Reyes made a 16-yard catch, senior Sean Garrett made a 9-yard catch, junior Jack Rogerson made a 1-yard catch and senior Brian Butchko went 2-for-3 in PAT attempts.
The Bulldogs (0-2 overall) hosted Castaic for its 115th anniversary game Friday night; the result was unavailable by the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Burbank will visit Fillmore for a nonleague game on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. before hosting St. Genevieve High of Panorama City on Sept. 15.
