Burbank, Burroughs Continue Winning Run

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ water polo team dominated visiting Muir High of Pasadena in a 22-8 Pacific League victory on Oct. 3 as junior Avet Avetisyan scored six goals.

Senior Andranik Bilbulyan finished with three goals, while senior Alex Kobalyan, junior Alex Vardanyan, junior Daniel Agazaryan, junior Greg Baboudjian and sophomore Leo Khachaturian each scored two goals. Senior Arthur Saryan, senior Michael Misakyan and freshman Avvo Ilangesyan each had one goal.

The Bulldogs defeated host Glendale 9-6 in a league matchup on Sept. 28 as Bilbulyan chipped in with three goals. Avetisyan tallied two goals, while Agazaryan, Baboudjian, Saryan and Kobalyan each added one goal.

Burbank (13-3 overall, 3-0 in league) will finish competing in the Buena Tournament on Oct. 6 before resuming league play at Pasadena on Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School’s Harrison Siegel scored four goals to help the Bears win a Pacific League victory against Hoover High on Tuesday.

The Bears picked up a narrow 11-9 Pacific League victory in overtime against visiting Hoover High of Glendale on Oct. 3.

Harrison Siegel registered four goals, two steals and one assist, Ian Duffield tallied four steals, three goals, two assists and two blocks, and Logan Turla chipped in four steals, three goals and one assist. Atticus Mata finished with seven saves and two steals, while Dean Yuzna contributed two assists, one goal and one block. Nicola Nasev produced four steals and two blocks, while Nicolas Oporta had two assists and one steal.

Burroughs routed host Pasadena 23-3 in a league game on Sept. 28. Siegel racked up eight assists, four goals, one steal and one block, while Nasev produced five goals and three steals.

Duffield tallied three steals, two goals and one assist, while Yuzna recorded two goals and two assists. Aiden Means chipped in two goals and two steals, while Mata contributed six saves and two goals. Turla finished with four steals, one goal and one assist, while Tyler Jones registered two assists, two steals and one goal. Joshua Castaneda had one goal and one assist, Micah Abbey recorded one goal and one steal, and Justin Molina and Ryan Lee each scored one goal.

Burroughs (9-10, 2-1) will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta for a league game on Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Oct. 12.
