Bears Bounce Back With Sweep of Muir

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ volleyball team swept host Muir High in Pasadena, 25-19, 25-14, 25-22, in a Pacific League matchup on Oct. 3.

Sophomore Sienna Lay contributed 11 digs and seven kills, while senior Tawnie Ohrt registered eight kills and seven digs. Sophomore Savana Lay racked up 22 assists, while senior Sadie Lomet tallied nine digs.

The Bears lost to visiting Providence High in four games, 22-25, 22-25, 25-13, 16-25, in a nonleague contest on Oct. 2 as sophomore Khloe Pavia and Lomet each finished with 11 kills.

Ohrt produced 17 digs and five kills, while Savana Lay amassed 30 assists. Freshman Zoe Davis chipped in five kills, while Sienna Lay recorded eight digs.

JBHS was swept at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 23-25, 12-25, 19-25, in a league match on Sept. 28.

Lomet racked up 11 kills and 10 digs, while Ohrt notched nine digs and six kills. Savana Lay was credited with 21 assists, Sienna Lay tallied seven digs and Pavia recorded six kills.

The fourth-place Bears (11-10 overall, 6-5 in league) will host Arcadia for a league match on Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting rival Burbank for their regular-season finale on Oct. 12.

The Bulldogs were swept by visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 17-25, 14-25, 15-25, in a Pacific League match on Oct. 3.

Olivia Romagnino registered 12 digs and one ace, while Arpa Khechadoorian tallied 10 assists and four aces. Ally Molloy contributed nine digs and two kills, while Allie Foenander produced seven digs, four kills and two aces. Addy Ritner chipped in three aces, two kills and one dig, Bee Barona recorded three digs, one kill and one ace, and Grace O’Connor finished with three assists and one dig. Astoria Torres notched three kills, while Raquel Fox had two kills.

Burbank was swept at Glendale, 11-25, 11-25, 13-25, in a league contest on Sept. 28 as Molloy racked up 14 digs and two kills.

Foenander tallied six kills and four digs, O’Connor registered six assists, one kill and one dig, and Romagnino chipped in seven digs. Barona contributed five digs and one kill, while Khechadoorian finished with four assists and three digs. Ritner produced one kill, one assist, one dig and one block, Carly Chapman recorded one kill, one assist and one dig, and Ava Rosalino had one kill.

The Bulldogs (3-22, 2-9) will host Hoover High of Glendale for a league match on Oct. 10 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting rival Burroughs High for their regular-season finale on Oct. 12.
