Mira Hammel Leads Burbank Over Hoover

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ tennis team defeated host Hoover High in Glendale 11-7 in a Pacific League match on Sept. 7.

In singles action, No. 3 Mira Hammel displayed her dominance, securing a sweep with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3. No. 1 Sena Hammel claimed a pair of sets with two decisive 6-0 scores. No. 2 Daphne Harbaugh notched two sets in her favor, prevailing by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

On the doubles front, the No. 3 tandem of Yeva Sarkisian and Ariana Khougaeva emerged victorious with two sets, both ending with 6-3 scores. The No. 1 team of Jessica Han and Chihiro Kato, and the No. 2 pairing of Brianna Kobramasihi and Molly Foenander each won a set with a 6-1 score.

The Bulldogs will host Glendale for a league match on Sept. 19 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on Sept. 21.

BURROUGHS

The Bears narrowly lost to visiting Hoover High of Glendale 10-8 in a Pacific League match on Sept. 12.

The No. 1 doubles team of October Seems and Ashley Sinai emerged victorious in two sets, clinching them with scores of 6-0 and 6-2.

In singles action, No. 1 Hannah Lewis secured two sets, triumphing with scores of 6-0 and 6-3. No. 2 Abigail Stell also won two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-3. No. 3 Alexandria Stoliker won a set, 6-1.

JBHS previously lost a league match at Arcadia 17-1 as No. 2 singles Stell won the lone set with a 6-3 score.

Burroughs will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta for a league match on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Muir High in Pasadena on Sept. 21.
