Boys’ Tennis: Burroughs Unbeaten in Doubles in Rout of Hoover

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ tennis team routed host Hoover High in Glendale 17-1 in a Pacific League match on March 28.

The No. 1 doubles team of Paul Vu and Joshua Liwag swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3. The No. 2 tandem of Bevan Maxwell and Iulian Lundberg won a pair of sets with identical 6-0 scores. Maxwell alternated with James Stell, and the new duo added a 6-3 victory to complete the sweep. The No. 3 team of Miles Howell and Ari Pathak won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Substitutes Karthik Darbhala and Mateo Solis took over in the third set and added a 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.

No. 1 singles Bernard Woods (6-2, 6-3, 6-4) and No. 3 Jaden Chapman (6-0, 6-3, 6-4) each swept, while No. 2 Zachary Barry won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 7-5.

The Bears (6-5 overall, 5-3 in league) will host Glendale for a league match on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on April 11.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs battled Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge in a nonleague match on April 3 after visiting Pasadena for a Pacific League match on March 28.

Results and individual player performances were not submitted to the Leader.

Burbank will host South Pasadena for a nonleague match on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Glendale on April 11.
