Baseball: Burbank Bounces Back in League Play

The Burbank High School varsity baseball team lost to visiting Agoura 12-0 in a nonleague game on April 2.

Captain Colby Bette recorded a hit and a walk, while Thomas Angel tallied a hit.

Captain Robert Snyder, who had a base hit at the plate, pitched three innings with seven strikeouts and no walks. Adrian Vasquez pitched one inning, Michael Bui pitched two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout and Taylor Pryor pitched one-third of an inning.

Burbank posted a 5-3 Pacific League victory at Muir High in Pasadena on April 1.

Bette, who had a double, two RBIs and a walk at the plate, pitched five innings with four strikeouts. Snyder, who went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI at the plate, pitched a perfect inning of relief with a pair of strikeouts, while Vasquez, who tallied a double at the plate, pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Ryan Sebastian went 3-for-4 with a run, Angel produced a hit, an RBI and a run, and Jake Dibie contributed a hit, a run and a stolen base. Bui was credited with a hit and a run, Jake Reyes recorded a base hit, and captain Miklo Reynoso walked once, scored a run and stole a base.

The Bulldogs secured an 8-3 league victory at Pasadena on March 29.

Reynoso, who had a hit, two walks, an RBI, a run and a stolen base at the plate, pitched six innings with seven strikeouts, while Bette pitched a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout.

Reyes went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, Sebastian went 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk, and Snyder went 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Vasquez recorded a double and two RBIs, while Bui produced a hit, two RBIs, a run, a walk and a stolen base. Angel finished with a hit, two walks, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, while Dibie walked once, scored a run and stole a base.

Burbank (5-9 overall, 4-4 in league) will visit Hoover High in Glendale for a league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting the Tornados on April 12.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School freshman Elliot Ross had a hit and an RBI during a nonleague game against Sylmar on April 3.

The Bears lost at Sylmar 6-1 in a nonleague game on April 3.

Freshman Elliot Ross recorded a hit and an RBI, while senior Dylan Conahan finished with a hit and a run. Senior Brian Martinez, sophomore Zack Guevara and sophomore Logan Drossin each tallied a base hit, while sophomore Devin Whittekiend walked once. Sophomore Jack Guest pitched 2 2/3 innings with a strikeout, while senior Elvis Moreno pitched two innings with one strikeout. Senior Nate Cisneros pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout, while senior Anthony Morse pitched one-third of an inning with a strikeout.

The Bears shut out host Glendale 8-0 in a Pacific League game on March 29.

Sophomore Ryan Walsh pitched four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks, while Moreno pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no hits. Senior Chris Perez recorded a hit, two RBIs, a run, a walk and a stolen base, senior Nate Chapman finished with a hit, three stolen bases, two runs and an RBI, and senior Nickolas Fritz registered a hit, two stolen bases, a run and a walk. Drossin produced a hit, two stolen bases and a run, junior Kyle Smith contributed a hit and a run, and junior Andrew Cosio tallied a double. Ross walked once and scored a run, while Conahan stole two bases and scored a run. Martinez was credited with an RBI, while Whittekiend stole a base.

Burroughs (14-3, 7-1) will visit Pasadena for a league game on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on April 12.
