Spangler, Kellogg Receive Top League Awards

Athletes from Burroughs and Burbank high schools received all-league honors at the conclusion of the spring campaign.

SOFTBALL

The Bears concluded a successful season with a 21-7 overall record. Phoebe Spangler, the league’s player of the year, helped JBHS finish third in the Pacific League tournament and tied for first in the overall standings with a 6-1 league record. Chloe Centeno and Karlee Earl earned first-team honors, Gizelle Rangsiyawong and Alyssa Morales were second-team selections, and Emerson Coblentz received an honorable mention.

Burbank High School’s Maddison Kellogg earned the Pacific League softball co-pitcher of the year award.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 12-13 overall record. Maddison Kellogg, the league’s co-pitcher of the year, helped Burbank finish fourth in the Pacific League tournament and tie for third with a 5-2 league record. Kara Valencia received second-team honors, and Eliza Bowren received an honorable mention.

BASEBALL

Burroughs High School’s Nate Chapman was honored with all-Pacific League baseball first-team honors.

The Bears concluded a strong season by finishing tied for second with an 11-3 record (19-7 overall). Nate Chapman, Logan Drossin and Elliot Ross received first-team selections. Nick Fritz and Devin Whittekiend earned second-team honors, and Kenny Montgomery received an honorable mention.

Burbank High School’s Robert Snyder was selected to the all-Pacific League baseball first team.

The Bulldogs finished the season fourth in the league with a 7-7 record (8-15 overall). Robert Snyder earned first-team honors. Thomas Angel and Bryant Johnson received second-team selections, and Colby Bette received an honorable mention.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

The Bears finished the season as league runner-up with an 8-2 record (25-10 overall). Henry Carlin, Charlie Gerard and Ryder Tafoya earned first-team honors, Gavin Arnold and Benji Ly received second-team selections, and Caiden Shrode was an honorable mention.

Burbank High School’s Ryan Viyar was named to the all-Pacific League boys’ volleyball first team.

The Bulldogs finished tied for fourth in the league with a 3-7 record (5-16 overall). Ryan Viyar earned first-team honors, Ian Villaflor received second-team honors and Taiyo Nakao was an honorable mention.
