Man Suffers Head Wounds in Burbank Downtown Shooting

A shooting near downtown Burbank on Tuesday left a man in the hospital with head wounds, police said. No suspect had been arrested as of the Leader’s press deadline Friday.

Early Tuesday morning at about 3:20 a.m., Burbank Police communications received “several calls reporting the sound of gunshots heard in the area of Elmwood Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard,” Burbank police Lt. Derek Green said in a statement.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and found the victim, but did not locate the suspect.

“Responding police officers located a shooting scene in the 300 block of E. Elmwood Avenue,” Green said. “Officers also encountered an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That individual was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. As of now, he is expected to survive.”

No arrests were immediately reported, and no suspect description was available.

“The investigation is continuing as detectives are interviewing potential witnesses and gathering evidence from the scene and surrounding neighborhood,” Green said.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Burbank Police Investigations Division at (818) 238-3210.
