Aguilar Scores Hat Trick in Emphatic Win

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ soccer team routed visiting Glendale 12-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 9 as senior Nadia Aguilar scored a hat trick and added two assists.

Junior Quiana Laughlin finished with two goals and two assists, sophomore Samantha Sizemore chipped in two goals and one assist, and senior Megan Harkins scored a pair of goals. Senior Graciela Gomez, senior Jailyn Turner and junior Vivian Wright each tallied one goal, while junior Ella Sage and freshman Isabella Estrada each had one assist.

The Bears shut out visiting Muir High of Pasadena 2-0 in a league game on Jan. 4 as Aguilar and Sage each scored one goal.

Burroughs (5-4 overall, 5-2 in league) will host Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 16 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Pasadena on Jan. 19.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs shut out Muir High of Pasadena 2-0 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.

Sophomore Emily Taghon and freshman Jocelyn Morinaga each recorded one goal, while freshman Sophia Leon was credited with an assist.

Burbank edged host Hoover High in Glendale 1-0 in a league match on Jan. 4 as Morinaga scored one goal.

The Bulldogs (5-3-1, 4-3) will visit Glendale for a league match on Jan. 16 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Arcadia on Jan. 19.
