The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ water polo team secured a narrow 17-16 overtime victory at Arcadia in its Pacific League opener on Dec. 21.
Ava Tomlinson racked up eight goals, while Molly Gilmore recorded five saves. Ana Zubkoff tallied four goals, Derrika Berenguer finished with three goals and Morgan Wright scored a pair of goals.
The Bears (4-6 overall, 1-0 in league) will host Hoover High of Glendale for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Glendale on Jan. 9.
BURBANK
The Bulldogs defeated host Hoover High in Glendale 5-2 in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 21 as Angela Khachikyan racked up 10 saves and one steal.
Elizabeth Bislamyan finished with three goals and one assist, Natalie Bislamyan tallied three steals, one goal and one assist, and Elina Khechumyan chipped in one goal and one steal. Cynthia Goli and Khloe Aghakhani were each credited with one assist, while Audrey Ebrahimi had one steal.
Burbank (4-6, 1-0) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Muir High in Pasadena on Jan. 9.
