The Burbank High School varsity girls’ soccer team defeated visiting Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles 1-0 in its season opener on Nov. 28, as sophomore Sydney Evens-Armendaris racked up 26 saves to preserve the shutout.
Sophomore Emily Taghon scored the deciding goal, while freshman Sophia Leon was credited with an assist.
The Bulldogs will open Pacific League action against visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Dec. 5 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Glendale on Dec. 8.
BURROUGHS
The Bears lost at Louisville High in Woodland Hills 5-2 in their season opener on Nov. 28. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
Burroughs will open Pacific League action at Glendale on Dec. 5 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Dec. 8.
