Bulldogs Drop League Opener at Arcadia

 The Burbank High School varsity football team lost at Arcadia 59-14 in its Pacific League opener on Sept. 29.

Junior Daniel Zacariaz completed 13 passes for 92 yards and rushed for 44 yards on four carries. Junior Joseph Caballero rushed for 40 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries and made three catches for 21 yards.

Junior Ezekiel Alvarez made three receptions for 61 yards, junior Jacob Mendieta had eight carries for 18 yards and junior Max Kelley had four receptions for 19 yards with a 4-yard carry. Sophomore Thomas Adzhemyan had two carries for 2 yards, junior Aiden Ramirez had a 1-yard catch with a pair of tackles on defense and senior Brian Butchko went 2-for-2 in PAT attempts.

Senior Marcus Ojeil racked up nine tackles and a sack, senior Brandon Elizalde finished with seven tackles, and junior Aidan Miller blocked a pair of field goals with three tackles. Senior Levon Bakmazian finished with three tackles, while senior Mike Martinez, sophomore Adrian Albarran and sophomore Noah May-Vaughn each contributed two tackles. Senior Nikolas Dimobolous, senior Abraham Zyada, senior Brennan Miller, senior Dylan Muriano, junior James Taylor-Karoll, junior Justin Arteaga, sophomore David Luga and sophomore Patrick Khachatryan each had one tackle.

The Bulldogs (2-4 overall, 0-1 in league) visited Crescenta Valley on Oct. 6; the league game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Burbank will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league game on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Oct. 19.
