The Burbank High School varsity boys’ water polo team defeated host Pasadena Polytechnic 11-8 in its nonleague season opener on Aug. 31 as junior Daniel Agazaryan racked up a game-high four goals.
Senior Andronik Bilbulyan scored three goals, junior Avet Avetisyan tallied two goals, and senior Michael Misakyan and freshman Avvo llangesyan each contributed one goal.
The Bulldogs (1-0 overall) will visit Temple City for a nonleague game on Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Buena High in Ventura on Sept. 21.
BURROUGHS

The Bears have been away from the pool since competing in the Pasadena Polytechnic Tournament on Aug. 25 and 26 and defeating La Cañada on Aug. 30, but returned to action Friday in the Malibu Tournament; games against Thousand Oaks and Oxnard ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue
After the tournament, the Bears (4-1 overall) will visit Crespi High in Encino for a nonleague game on Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting South Pasadena on Sept. 19.
