Woman Arrested After Vehicle Vandalisms

By City News Service

A woman was arrested following a spree of bizarre vehicle vandalisms in Burbank and other Los Angeles neighborhoods, police said Thursday.

The woman made headlines this week after she was seen on a widely circulated video allegedly throwing bricks through the windshields of several vehicles, also allegedly vandalizing a number of other vehicles in Burbank, Los Angeles, Culver City and Santa Monica.

The woman, 30, was taken into custody on Wednesday, and was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

She was being held without bail as of Thursday.

The nature of the crimes garnered the most attention online, as the woman appeared to damage the vehicles with no intent to steal the contents inside.

One of the crimes occurred on March 28 at about 5 p.m. in West Los Angeles, the LAPD reported.

“[The suspect] exited her vehicle with a brick and threw it at a random vehicle’s windshield,” police said. “[She] picked up the brick from the ground and drove away. The incident was captured on video and garnered national news coverage.”

She was captured on video using a brick to smash other vehicles throughout the region in the past week.

Authorities were contacted by vandalism victims in the cities of Burbank, Culver City and Santa Monica, as well as in the Venice, Mid-Wilshire, Woodland Hills and Northeast areas of Los Angeles, the LAPD reported.

“Detectives from West L.A. Division, Pacific Division, South Traffic Division and Santa Monica Police Department worked together to identify [the suspect],” police said.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call LAPD detectives at (310) 444-1503, or (877) LAPD-247. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS, or use the website at lacrimestoppers.org.
