Police Investigate San Jose Avenue Shooting

An investigation is underway following a recent late-night shooting in the 500 block of East San Jose Avenue that has left one person hospitalized and in fair condition.

On July 7, at about 10:40 p.m., the Burbank Police Department responded to the area regarding a possible shooting that had just occurred. The first police officer on the scene located evidence of a shooting in the north alley between Sixth Street and Glenoaks Boulevard.

As additional police officers arrived, they were directed to a man in the alley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The police officers began rendering aid to the victim while awaiting the arrival of paramedics. The wounded man was ultimately transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim is a 45-year-old Burbank resident.

Multiple police officers searched for the suspect(s) but did not locate them.

Investigators are conducting a thorough investigation, which includes speaking with witnesses, canvassing the area for evidence and collecting surveillance video.

Detectives are diligently working to identify those involved, as well as a motive and what circumstances led up to the shooting. Investigators believe this was not a random act.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact BPD’s Investigations Division at (818) 238-3210.
