Firefighters Knock Down Brush Fire

Fire crews responded to a brush fire burning in the area of Clifden and Castleman lanes northeast of the Golden State (5) Freeway near Burbank on Wednesday. Crews on the scene reported the fire was about 1 acre in size.

“At 12:32 p.m., Burbank Fire Department was dispatched to a reported brush fire in the 3300 block of Clifden Lane,” said David Burke, battalion chief and fire marshal for BFD. “First arriving crews reported that a brush fire was burning to the rear of the dispatch location and additional resources were ordered.”

“BFD attacked both flanks of the fire while simultaneously protecting structures at risk,” Burke said.

Firefighters knocked down and contained the brush fire within forty-five minutes, according to Burke, who said that the fire burned a total of one acre and added that there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

Glendale Fire Department, Pasadena Fire Department, Los Angeles City Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Burbank Police Department and Los Angeles Police Department provided assistance.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
