Softball: Burroughs, Burbank Each Win Tournament Doubleheaders

The Burroughs High School varsity softball team won its fourth straight game by defeating Camarillo, 5-2, in the matinee matchup of a Hart Tournament doubleheader last Saturday.
Junior Emerson Coblentz pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts while allowing two earned runs on a hit and a walk.
Senior Chloe Centeno went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs while senior Lilly Lewis blasted a solo home run. Junior Eliza Torres recorded a hit and a stolen base, junior Alyssa Rosales and freshman Karlee Earl each tallied a hit and an RBI, and senior Stevie Dabbadie and junior Phoebe Spangler each finished with a hit and a run.
The Bears blanked El Camino Real High of Woodland Hills, 4-0, in a tournament game last Saturday as Spangler pitched a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts while allowing four hits and one walk. Rosales recorded a hit, an RBI and a run, senior Rachel Little and junior Gizelle Rangsiyawong each produced a hit and scored once, and senior Laurel Piper and Dabbadie each registered a base hit. Junior Skylar Vanole scored once while Earl had an RBI.
JBHS previously posted a 7-1 nonleague victory at Mark Keppel High in Alhambra as Dabbadie, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and six hits.
Rangsiyawong went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a pair of runs, Earl went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Centeno went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Spangler went 2-for-3 with a run, Lewis finished with a hit, a run, a stolen base and an RBI, and Rosales registered a hit and score once.
The Bears (5-1 overall) will host Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth for a nonleague game on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Pasadena for their Pacific League opener on March 2.

BURBANK


The Bulldogs lost to visiting Chaminade High of West Hills, 8-1, in a nonleague game on Wednesday.
Burbank won a Hart Tournament doubleheader last Saturday, defeating Chaminade, 8-2, and Vasquez High of Acton, 8-4.
The Bulldogs previously blanked visiting Eagle Rock High in a nonleague game, 5-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
Burbank (5-2 overall) will visit Arcadia for its Pacific League opener on Thursday, March 2, before hosting Pasadena on March 7.
