Boys’ tennis: Bulldogs, Bears Post League Victories

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ tennis team swept host Pasadena, 18-0, in a Pacific League match last Thursday.
No. 1 singles player Adam Ridaoui (6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 Amrith Kodumuri (6-0, 6-0) each won a pair of sets for the Bulldogs. No. 3 Raphael Lazaryev won a set 6-3 before alternating with David Petrosyan, who also won 6-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Minjae Kim and David Kerimyan (6-0, 6-0), and the No. 2 tandem of Dominic Aleman and Edouard Oganesian (6-0, 6-0) each won a pair of sets while the No. 3 team of Blake Lewis and Vamsi Chintha won a set, 6-2. After substitution, the new duo of Desmond McNeill and Chintha won a set, 6-0. Pasadena forfeited the third set to give the Bulldogs a flawless victory.
Burbank (2-0 overall) will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in a league matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on March 2.


BURROUGHS


The Bears defeated visiting Glendale, 15-3, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday. No. 1 singles player Bernard Woods (6-1, 6-2, 6-0) and No. 2 Michael Fraser (6-0, 6-2, 6-0) each swept while Paul Vu added a 6-1 victory. The No. 1 doubles team of Kaian Bates and Vivek Bhakta swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 tandem of Bevan Maxwell and Sean Konkle won a pair of sets, 6-1, 6-2. The No. 3 duo of Miles Howell and Ari Pathak won a pair of sets, 6-1, 6-3, before alternating with Julian Lundberg and Jaden Chapman, who won 7-5.
JBHS previously picked up a 15-2 league victory at Hoover High in Glendale, 15-2. No. 1 singles Woods (6-2, 6-2, 6-0), No. 2 Fraser (6-3, 6-0, 6-2), and the No. 3 doubles team of Howell and Pathak (7-6, 6-0, 6-0) each swept. Maxwell and Konkle won a pair of sets, 6-1, 6-4, while No. 3 singles Vu added a 6-1 victory. The No. 1 duo of Bates and Bhakta won a pair of sets, 7-6, 6-2, before alternating with Chapman and Lundberg, who added a 6-2 victory.
Burroughs (2-1 overall) will host Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge in a nonleague matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 28, before hosting Pasadena on March 2.
