Boys’ volleyball: Burroughs, Burbank Start Off Strong

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ volleyball team swept host Nordhoff High in Ojai, 25-12, 25-23, 25-23, in its season opener on Tuesday.
Junior Henry Carlin racked up 12 kills and 12 digs, senior Andy Zeytounian tallied eight kills and senior Christian Lim registered 21 assists.
The Bears (1-0 overall) will host West Ranch High in Valencia in a nonleague match on Friday, March 3, at 6 p.m. before hosting Glendale in their Pacific League opener on Tuesday, March 7.


BURBANK


The Bulldogs competed in the Monrovia Tournament to open the season on Monday.
Burbank’s lone tournament loss came against Providence High, 2-0, while defeating Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, 25-21, 25-19, Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia, 25-22, and Salesian High of Los Angeles, 25-16, 25-8. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.
The Bulldogs (3-1 overall) will visit Malibu for a nonleague matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Chaminade High of West Hills on Thursday, Mach 2.
