The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ tennis team clobbered host Pasadena, 17-1, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday as the Bears’ singles players combined for nine victories.
No. 1 singles player Bernard Woods and No. 3 singles player Michael Fraser won each of their sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 2 singles player Markos Mkrtchyan won his three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Zion DuMonde and Miles Howell swept their sets 6-1, 6-1, 6-3, while the No. 2 doubles team of Theodore Pynchon Bevan Maxwell won two of three sets 6-0, 6-1. The No. 3 doubles team of and Sean Konkle won one set, 6-4, before being alternated for Vivek Bhakta and Kaian Bates, who won two sets 6-0, 6-1.
Burroughs (3-1 league record) is scheduled to host Burbank for an intracity rivalry matchup on Thursday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m.
BURBANK
The Bulldogs were edged by visiting powerhouse Arcadia, 10-8, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Leader.
Burbank (3-1 in league) is scheduled to visit Burroughs for an intracity matchup on Thursday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m.
