Boys’ Tennis: Doubles Sweep Propels Burbank Past Hoover

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ tennis team routed visiting Hoover High of Glendale with a 16-2 Pacific League victory on March 26.

The No. 1 doubles team of Vamsi Chintha and Blake Lewis swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 2 tandem of Harutyun Keklikyan and Desmond McNeill swept with a trio of identical 6-2 scores. The No. 3 duo of David Petrosyan and James Basco swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3.

In singles, No. 1 Raphael Lazaryev swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 7-5, while No. 2 Dominic Aleman (6-2, 6-3) and No. 3 David Kerimyan (6-2, 7-6) each won a pair of sets.

The Bulldogs (5-2 in league) will host Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge for a nonleague match on April 3 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley on April 5.

BURROUGHS

The Bears lost to visiting Arcadia 14-4 in a Pacific League match on March 26.

No. 1 singles player Bernard Woods won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-2, while No. 2 Zachary Barry (6-1) and No. 3 Jaden Chapman (7-5) each added one victory.

Burroughs (5-5 overall, 4-3 in league) will host Glendale for a league match on April 9 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High on April 11.
