Boys’ Volleyball: Bears Drop Close Match Against St. Francis

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ volleyball team lost at St. Francis High in La Cañada Flintridge in five games, 25-18, 16-25, 16-25, 25-12, 12-15, in a nonleague match on March 6.

Benji Ly registered 11 kills, Charlie Gerard contributed nine kills and three aces, and Henry Carlin chipped in nine kills. Marci Reyes recorded 22 assists, while Nathan Kameya tallied 15 digs.

The Bears swept host West Ranch High in Valencia, 25-23, 27-25, 25-22, in a nonleague match on March 1.

Ly finished with 10 kills, while Gerard produced eight kills. Carlin racked up 16 assists, eight kills and three aces, while Kameya was credited with 12 digs.

Burroughs (5-4 overall) will host Arcadia for a Pacific League match on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Pasadena on March 14.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs were swept at Canyon High in Santa Clarita, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22, in a nonleague match on March 5. Burbank lost in four games at Calabasas, 25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 23-25, in a nonleague match on March 1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.

Burbank (1-5) will visit Glendale for a Pacific League match on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on March 14.
