Peek Scores Hat Trick as Burbank Girls’ Soccer Routs Glendale

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ soccer team shut out host Muir High in Pasadena 2-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 30.

Senior Graciela Gomez and sophomore Samantha Sizemore each scored one goal, while senior Jailyn Turner, junior Ruby McGrath and freshman Geneva Kiefer each had one assist.

The Bears routed host Hoover High in Glendale 6-1 in a league match on Jan. 26.

Senior Nadia Aguilar, Sizemore and Kiefer each chipped in two goals, freshman Jasmin Varela finished with two assists, and freshman Isabella Estrada tallied one assist.

Burroughs (8-7 overall, 8-5 in league) will host Burbank for its regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. and the Bears will find out who their Division V matchup will be.

The Bulldogs shut out visiting Hoover High of Glendale 5-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 30 as senior Sophie Peek racked up three goals and an assist.

Sophomore Sydney Evens-Armendaris registered six saves, sophomore Emily Taghon scored one goal and freshman Sophia Leon was credited with an assist.

Burbank suffered a 3-0 league loss at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on Jan. 26 as Evens-Armendaris amassed 20 saves.

The Bulldogs (7-6-2, 6-6-1) hosted Burroughs High for their regular season finale on Feb. 1; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs will compete in Division VII.
