Morinaga, TaghonS core Twice in Burbank Win

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ soccer team shut out host Glendale 6-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 16.

Sophomore Emily Taghon and freshman Jocelyn Morinaga each scored a pair of goals, freshman Sophia Leon recorded two assists and one goal, and freshman Olivia Bauer chipped in one goal.

The Bulldogs lost to visiting Burroughs High 2-1 in a league game on Jan. 12. Morinaga scored the lone goal while Leon was credited with an assist on the play.

Burbank (6-4-1 overall, 5-4 in league) will host Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on Jan. 26.

BURROUGHS

The Bears picked up a narrow 2-1 Pacific League victory at Burbank on Jan. 12. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.

Burroughs was shut out by visiting Arcadia 5-0 in a league matchup on Jan. 16.

The Bears (6-5, 6-3) will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta for a league game on Jan. 23 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Hoover High in Glendale on Jan. 26.
