The Burbank High School varsity girls’ tennis team beat visiting Glendale 17-1 in a Pacific League match on Sept. 19.
No. 1 singles player Sena Hammel, the reigning Pacific League girls’ singles champion, swept her matches with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2. No. 3 Daphne Harbaugh also secured a sweep with scores of 6-1, 6-2 and a close 7-6 (7-4) victory. No. 2 Mira Hammel contributed by winning a pair of sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
In the doubles matches, the No. 1 team of Brianna Kobramasihi and Chase Harris swept with scores of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1. The No. 2 duo of Jessica Han and Molly Foenander secured a straight-sets win with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, and the No. 3 pairing of Yeva Sarkisian and Ariana Khougaeva also swept their matches with scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-1.
The Bulldogs will host Burroughs High for a Pacific League match on Sept. 26 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Sept. 28.
BURROUGHS
The Bears lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta 16-2 in a Pacific League matchup on Sept. 19. No. 3 Ava Marye won a set, 6-4, while the No. 1 doubles team of Leslie Femenias and Pearl Base won a set, 6-3.
JBHS secured a narrow 10-8 victory at Glendale in a league match on Sept. 14.
In singles play, No. 1 Hannah Lewis swept her opponents with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3. No. 2 Abigail Stell contributed with a pair of wins with scores of 7-5 and 7-6 (7-2), while No. 3 Alexandria Stoliker won a set, 6-2.
In the doubles matches, the No. 1 team of October Siems and Ashley Sinovai won two sets with scores of 7-5 and 6-2. The No. 2 duo of Hannah Mendoza and Femenias won a set with a score of 7-6 (7-3), while the No. 3 pairing of Dana Pitsker and Marye added another set win with a score of 7-5.
Burroughs will visit Burbank for a league match on Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Sept. 28.
