Bears Split Results, Bulldogs Get First Win

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ volleyball team swept host Hoover High of Glendale 25-7, 28-26, 25-12 in a Pacific League matchup on Sept. 19.

Sophomore Khloe Pavia recorded a team-high nine kills, while sophomore Savana Lay chipped in 12 assists.

The Bears were swept at Arcadia, 12-25, 23-25, 18-25, in a league match on Sept. 14.

Senior Sadie Lomet led the team with nine kills, while senior Tawnie Ohrt collected 11 digs and seven kills. Savana Lay racked up 21 assists, while junior Kiana Hildebrandt registered 15 digs. Sophomore Sienna Lay contributed six digs and four kills, while Pavia finished with three kills.

Third-place JBHS (9-7 overall, 4-3 in league) will host Glendale in a league matchup on Sept. 26 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High on Sept. 28.

BURBANK

Burbank High School’s Arpa Khechadoorian had six assists during a Pacific League match against Pasadena on Sept. 19.

Allie Foenander collected eight digs, five aces and five kills, while Raquel Fox finished with five aces, three kills and one dig. Ally Molloy contributed nine digs and one kill, while Olivia Romagnino produced nine digs. Grace O’Connor recorded seven assists, one kill and one ace, while Arpa Khechadoorian was credited with six assists, two digs and one kill. Addy Ritner registered three blocks, two digs, one ace and one kill, while Astoria Torres notched three kills, one dig and one block. Bee Barona and Maddy Edwards each tallied two digs and one kill, while Jaime Moon had two digs.

Burbank swept host Hoover High in Glendale to secure its first league victory on Sept. 14. Individual set scores were not reported to the Burbank Leader for either league match.

The Bulldogs (1-14, 1-6) will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league contest on Sept. 26 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Glendale on Sept. 28.
