Burroughs Competes in Karch Kiraly Tournament

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ volleyball team defeated visiting Arcadia, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-16, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.
The Bears previously competed in the Karch Kiraly Tournament last weekend and finished with a 2-2 record. JBHS defeated Hart High of Newhall, 26-24, 25-17, 30-28, and West Ranch High of Valencia, 25-17, 25-9, 25-16, but lost to Santa Barbara, 25-17, 25-11, 25-20, and Hart High of Newhall, 26-24, 25-20, 28-26.
Burroughs previously beat visiting Pasadena in a league match, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.
Second-place JBHS (12-10 overall, 7-2 in league) recently visited Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta for its regular-season finale; the match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Saturday at 11 a.m.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs were recently swept by Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 25-20, 25-18, 25-17, and Glendale, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19, in a pair of Pacific League matchups.
Burbank previously competed in the Chatsworth Tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Marshall High of Los Angeles and St. Genevieve High of Panorama City but suffered losses against San Dimas, Venice High of Los Angeles, Westlake High of Westlake Village, Chatsworth and Palo Verde High of Las Vegas, Nevada. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader by the Burbank coaching staff.
