BPD Investigates Man’s Death in Parking Lot

An investigation is underway after a man was found deceased in a vehicle in the 1500 block of West Olive Avenue.
Tuesday, at about 1 p.m., a BPD officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle code violation.
According to police reports, as the officer was speaking with the driver, he saw ammunition on the floorboard and instructed the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver allegedly refused and drove away. Police say that they chose not to pursue the suspect.
Shortly thereafter, a witness contacted BPD and reported seeing the vehicle that fled from officers parked in the Chase Bank parking lot. Officers responded and found the driver deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The decedent has only been identified as an adult male.
The Burbank Police Department is working with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office to identify the man and notify his next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the BPD’s Investigation Division at (818) 238-3210.
