JBHS’ Burras Selected to All-CIF Team

Burroughs High School senior Justin Burras earned an All-CIF Division II first-team selection after an outstanding season for the boys’ volleyball team.

“Justin earning All-CIF is an amazing honor that he deserves,” head coach Joel Brinton stated via email. “Throughout this season, he was our go-to guy when we needed a kill in a big situation. Every team needs a player like that, and Justin worked throughout the off-season and throughout his time in our program to be that guy for us this year.

“Over the last three seasons, all on varsity, we have been able to see Justin grow into the leader he was this season as he was one of our captains for one of [the] best seasons in our program’s history. He has earned this honor through all of his hard work in this program and we couldn’t be more proud of him.”

In addition to leading the team in kills, Burras was named MVP of the Chatsworth Tournament and Karch Kiraly Tournament of Champions.

Burras helped the Bears post a 30-4 overall record, including an impressive 25-match win streak between March 1 and April 30, en route to the team being ranked No. 10 in the nation by USA Today. JBHS also finished as outright Pacific League champions for a 12th consecutive season while never losing a set in its 10 league matchups.
