League Champ Burroughs Falls in CIF Quarterfinals

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ volleyball team was upset in its CIF-SS Division II quarterfinal match at Tesoro High in Rancho Santa Margarita, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22, on Wednesday.

JBHS, which was seeded No. 2 in the tournament and ranked No. 10 in the nation, finished its tremendous season as outright Pacific League champions with a 10-0 record (30-4 overall).

The Bears previously claimed a thrilling five-set victory over visiting Valley Christian High of Cerritos, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 15-9, in a second-round CIF match last Saturday.

Justin Burras amassed 25 kills and four aces, Vinny Harris collected 10 kills, Pucky Lawrence tallied eight kills and three blocks, and Christian Solano produced 41 assists.
