Marcia Ann Baroda passed away on August 10, 2023.
She was born on August 24, 1935, and was a resident of Burbank for 80 years.
Marcia is an alumna of Los Angeles Valley College and graduated from San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN) in 1958 with a B.A. in Education. She taught at Toluca Lake Elementary from 1958-1964.
Until her death, she was a member of Chapter U PEO, an almost 50-year member of La Providencia Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, president of Burbank University Women, an active member and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Burbank, and a Docent at the Burbank Historical Society. She served on the Board of Directors and was a secretary/treasurer at the family business, Detoronics Corporation.
In 1979, she was nominated for Burbank Woman of the Year and received the Cultural Advancement Award from the Women’s Council of Burbank. In 2021, Marcia was chosen as Burbank’s Volunteer of the Year and received the Peter McGrath Older Americans Outstanding Volunteer Award.
She is preceded in death by her husband of forty years Richard Baroda, her parents Margaret and Stewart Vonderscher, brother Joel Vonderscher, and first husband Jim Lancaster.
Surviving family members are daughters Diana Rhoads and Dawna Clark, grandchildren Kaitlyn (Ian), Courtland, Camden (Zach), Lilly (Luke), and great-grandson Jay, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Burbank, 521 E. Olive Avenue, Burbank.
