Boys’ Tennis: Burbank Edges Crescenta Valley in Key League Match

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ tennis team lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta, 11-7, in a Pacific League game on April 11.

No. 1 singles Bernard Woods (6-0, 6-3) and No. 3 Aditya Kiran (6-1, 6-1) each won a pair of sets in singles play, while No. 2 Zachary Barry added a 6-2 victory. The No. 2 doubles team of Ari Pathak and Miles Howell (6-2) and the No. 3 tandem of Paul Vu and Iulian Lundberg (6-2) each won a set.

The Bears (7-6 overall, 6-4 in league) will face visiting Burbank for their regular-season finale on April 18; the league match ended after the Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Burroughs will send individuals to compete in the Pacific League tournament on April 22 and 23 at Arcadia.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs edged visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in games, 9-9 (77-74), in a Pacific League match on April 16.

No. 1 singles player Raphael Lazaryev (6-0, 6-2), No. 2 David Kerimyan (6-2, 6-2) and No. 3 Dominic Aleman (6-1, 6-3) each won a pair of sets in singles play. The No. 3 doubles team of Desmond McNeill and James Basco won a pair of sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-2, while the No. 1 tandem of Vamsi Chintha and Blake Lewis added a 6-3 victory.

Burbank swept host Glendale 18-0 in a league match on April 11. Individual results were not reported to the Leader.
