Tovmasyan Gets Clean Sheet as Burbank Blanks Arcadia

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ soccer team shut out visiting Arcadia 2-0 in a Pacific League matchup on Jan. 19 as senior Hayk Tovmasyan registered a clean sheet with four saves.

Sophomores Aram Hovanessian and Raymond Soukiazian each chipped in one goal, while senior George Atallah and junior Rigo Garcia each had one assist.

The Bulldogs lost at Pasadena 2-1 in a league match on Jan. 23.

Junior Erik Antanesyan scored one goal, senior Bryan Juarez was credited with one assist and Tovmasyan recorded nine saves.

Burbank (7-6-4 overall, 3-5-3 in league) will visit Hoover High in Glendale on Jan. 30 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High for its regular-season finale on Feb. 1.

BURROUGHS

The Bears were shut out at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta 1-0 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 23 after previously losing 4-3 in a league game at Pasadena on Jan. 19. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader.

Burroughs (5-8, 4-7) will host Muir High of Pasadena on Jan. 30 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Burbank for its regular season finale on Feb. 1.
