Burbank Blanks Hoover, Burroughs Shuts Out Muir

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ soccer team settled for a 2-2 draw against visiting Muir High of Pasadena in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.

Sophomore Aram Hovanessian scored a pair of goals, junior Izel Ortega and sophomore Raymond Soukiazian were each credited with one assist, and senior captain Hayk Tovmasyan recorded two saves.

The Bulldogs shut out visiting Hoover High of Glendale 2-0 in a league match on Jan. 4.

Junior Erik Antanesyan and Tovmasyan each made two saves, senior captain George Atallah and junior Samvel Stepanyan each scored one goal, and Hovanessian tallied one assist.

Burbank (6-3-4 overall, 2-2-3 in league) will host Glendale for a league game on Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Arcadia on Jan. 19.

BURROUGHS

The Bears lost at Glendale 4-1 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9 as senior Joseph Earl scored the lone goal for Burroughs.

Burroughs cruised to a 3-0 victory over Muir High in Pasadena in a league match on Jan. 4. Wesley Niwa scored two goals, while Alan Gomez recorded one goal.

Burroughs (4-5, 3-4) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 16 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Jan. 19.
