Bears, Bulldogs Split League Results

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ volleyball team was swept by visiting Arcadia, 11-25, 21-25, 17-25, in a Pacific League matchup on Oct. 10.

Sophomore Khloe Pavia recorded six kills, while senior Sadie Lomet and sophomore Sienna Lay each added four kills.

The Bears competed in the Redondo Tournament on Oct. 6 and 7, finishing with a 1-4 record after sweeping Camarillo, 25-17, 25-17, in their finale. Burroughs suffered losses against Calabasas, 19-25, 22-25; Lakewood, 16-25, 18-25; Hart High of Newhall, 13-25, 20-25; and Palos Verdes High of the Palos Verdes Estates, 9-25, 18-25.

Burroughs swept visiting Pasadena, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24, in a league match on Oct. 5, as sophomore Savana Lay amassed 34 assists. Lomet racked up 13 kills, Pavia registered 12 kills and senior Tawnie Ohrt tallied 10 kills.

The Bears (13-15 overall, 7-6 in league) concluded the regular season by hosting crosstown rival Burbank on Oct. 12; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.

Burbank High School’s Emily Topajikian tallied seven digs to help the Bulldogs sweep Hoover High in a Pacific League match on Oct. 10.

The Bulldogs swept visiting Hoover High of Glendale, 25-16, 25-15, 25-15, in a Pacific League contest on Oct. 10.

Arpa Khechadoorian racked up 19 assists, one dig and one kill, while Olivia Romagnino contributed 13 dig, one ace and one assist. Ally Molloy finished with nine digs, six aces and three kills, while Raquel Fox and Astoria Torres each produced six kills. Emily Topajikian tallied seven digs and three aces, while Addy Ritner finished with four kills and four aces. Carly Chapman chipped in two assists, one kill and one dig, Allie Foenander collected two kills and one dig, and Bee Barona had two digs and one kill.

Burbank was swept by Arcadia, 14-25, 15-25, 10-25, on the road in a league match on Oct. 5.

Foenander tallied nine digs, six kills and one ace, while Molloy recorded six digs, two kills and one ace. Romagnino finished with nine digs and one assist, while Khechadoorian was credited with eight assists and two digs. Barona registered three digs, one kill, and one ace, Torres chipped in two blocks, one kill and one dig, and Ritner collected two aces and one block. Grace O’Connor produced two assists and two digs, Jamie Moon contributed two digs, and Fox had one kill.

The Bulldogs (4-23, 3-10) concluded the regular season by visiting rival Burroughs High on Oct. 12; the league match ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
