Burbank Community YMCA Turkey Trot Is Back

First published in the Dec. 3 print issue of the Burbank Leader.

On Thanksgiving morning the community came out in droves to support the Y’s free programs, get a little exercise and connect with family and friends at the Turkey Trot.
The Turkey Trot is a community 5K and 10K race for competitive runners, young people, families, seniors and children, and is one of Burbank’s most exciting traditions.
The Burroughs High School’s Neo Chromatics Choir started the morning with a beautiful performance of the national anthem followed by the competitive runners lining up at 7:30 a.m. to start the race. They were followed by a community of givers of every age, size, gender, race and ethnicity joining together to support our kids.
All the monies raised from the Turkey Trot are used to serve some of the most vulnerable members of the community. The proceeds from the Turkey Trot support the Y’s summer camp and afterschool literacy and math programs, the Social Impact Center and its LGBTQIA+ programs, and the Rock Steady Boxing exercise program for adults living with Parkinson’s Disease.
Turkey Trot sponsors include Worthe Real Estate, Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Kiwanis Club of Burbank, UBS Financial Services, Steve Mora at Metropolitan Culinary Services, Hollywood Burbank Airport, Y Service Club, Gro Development LLC, Logix Federal Credit Union, Skeehan & Young CPA, Aldrich/Taylor Insurance, NBC Universal, Malissa Strong, InstaSure Insurance, Fleet Feet, Craig Murray Family, Integrated Office Technology, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Burbank Water and Power, Bank of America, Kimberlina Whettam & Associates, UCLA Health, Cristina Spratt, Pamela Marcello, Wallatees, Keller Williams Realty and the Koll Family.
