Bulldogs, Bears Compete in Tournaments

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ basketball team picked up its first win of the season by defeating Quartz Hill, 65-62, in a San Gabriel Tournament game on Monday.
Senior Sattwik Banerjee led the team with 35 points while junior Omar Payind scored 12 points.
The Bulldogs were previously edged in a nonleague game at Salesian in Los Angeles, 36-35.
Following the conclusion of the San Gabriel Tournament, the Bulldogs (1-2 overall) will be idle until they host Shalhevet High of Los Angeles in a nonleague game on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 4:30 p.m. Burbank will open Pacific League action the following week at Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on Dec. 9.

BURROUGHS
The Bears lost their finale Cardinal Tip-Off Classic at Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary in Montebello against Upland 76-42 last Saturday, finishing with a 2-2 overall record.
Burroughs previously picked up a pair of tournament victories over Hart High of Newhall, 68-67, and Whittier, 75-67. Individual statistics were not reported to the Leader.
The Bears (2-2 overall) will return to action by hosting Marshall High of Los Angeles in their Winter Tip-Off Tournament on Monday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m.
