Ascencia Annual Gala is April 13

The nonprofit Ascencia is hosting its 16th annual gala at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale on Saturday, April 13, at 6 p.m.

The organization is welcoming all supporters to join its biggest fundraiser of the year and a chance to celebrate Women’s History Month by recognizing the nonprofit’s donors, volunteers and board members.

Ascencia has been opening doors to change by providing comprehensive health care services to community members in need, including psychiatric services, trauma therapy and children’s art therapy for more than a decade. The nonprofit has also offered financial literacy classes since 2016 and occupational therapy since 2019.

The organization also has a relationship with a federally qualified health clinic Comprehensive Community Health Centers for years. The clinic has come to Ascencia to provide education on reproductive health care, and in 2024, it has a mobile medical clinic and has already been to Ascencia twice to provide services to the nonprofit’s clients and others in the Glendale Continuum of Care.

According to the organization, Ascencia supporters have been instrumental in saving roughly 200 lives in 2023.

When people are permanently housed and connected to preventative health care, 98% remain stably housed for years to come and 89% of them enjoy improved health outcomes with 90% fewer trips to the hospital, according to Ascencia.

Providing health care to people experiencing homelessness earlier in the process will surely improve their health outcomes at an earlier point in time to further prevent disease progression and premature death for the people we serve, the nonprofit said.
