Hit-and-Run Leaves Bicyclist Seriously Injured

The Burbank Police Department is searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a 77-year-old bicyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Tuesday.

At about 7:20 a.m., BPD dispatch received several calls regarding a traffic collision involving a bicyclist on Clybourn Avenue, near Oxnard Street.

The man rode his bike south on the east sidewalk of Clybourn Avenue approaching Oxnard Street when the incident occurred. As the rider entered the intersection, he was struck by a black sedan that was traveling east on Oxnard Street.

Afterward, the driver of the sedan fled from the scene, according to witnesses.

The bicyclist sustained major injuries as a result of the collision, police said. The man was transported to a local trauma center where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Burbank Police traffic investigators and detectives responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation.
