Takahashi Appointed to Two League of Cities Organizations

Councilwoman Tamala Takahashi was appointed to the National League of Cities’ Women in Municipal Government Constituency Group, the city announced Wednesday.

Additionally, Takahashi has received a one-year presidential appointment to the League of California Cities’ Community Services Policy Committee.

“These appointments highlight Councilmember Takahashi’s commitment to public service and her role in shaping policies that align with the collective interests of the city of Burbank,” the city said in a statement.

These new roles give Takahashi the opportunity to weigh in on inclusivity policy on the state and national level.

“I am grateful to have been appointed to two significant positions,” Takahashi said. “As a member of the National League of Cities’ Women in Leadership Constituency Group, I will have the opportunity to provide important input in advancing inclusive federal level policies and uplifting the pivotal role of women in local government.

“As a League of California Cities presidentially appointed member of the Community Services Committee, I will be a voice to advocate for state level support of local services and policies for mental health, families and children, parks and outdoor space, the arts, culture, and quality of life for all,” she added. “In both of these important advocacy groups, I will be proud to represent Burbank, where we live, work, play and create.”

The National League of Cities is an organization that comprises city, town, and village leaders who are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents. With nearly 100 years of dedication to the strength and advancement of local governments, the group has gained the trust and support of more than 2,700 cities across the nation. Its mission is to relentlessly advocate for, and protect the interests of, cities, towns and villages by influencing federal policy, strengthening local leadership, and driving innovative solutions.

The League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.
