
The Burroughs High School varsity softball team recently competed in the opening weekend of the Savanna Tournament and finished the day with a 2-0 record.
The Bears defeated Putnam High of Milwaukie, Oregon, 10-2, as junior Emerson Coblentz tossed a complete game with 13 strikeouts, two unearned runs, three hits and two walks.
Junior Alyssa Rosales went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs while senior Rachel Little went 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Junior Gizelle Rangsiyawong recorded a hit, a run and a stolen base, junior Phoebe Spangler tallied a hit, two RBIs and a run, and freshman Karlee Earl finished with a hit and an RBI. Senior Lilly Lewis scored twice, walked once and stole a base while junior Skylar Vanole walked once, scored a run and stole a base. Sophomore Chloe Centeno walked and scored once, sophomore Alyssa Morales scored once and stole a base, and junior JJ Barrios walked once.
Burroughs edged Long Beach Poly, 6-5, in its tournament opener. Rosales went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run, Lewis went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, and Little went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rangsiyawong went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Spangler went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and senior Stevie Dabbadie pitched a complete game with two strikeouts to earn the win. Earl recorded a hit, an RBI and a run, Morales and Vanole each scored once, and junior Eliza Torres walked once.
The Bears recently lost a nonleague game against visiting Camarillo, 8-0, as Spangler, Lewis and Dabbadie each had a base hit.
JBHS previously routed host Glendale, 18-0, in a Pacific League matchup as senior Stevie Dabbadie and Coblentz combined for a perfect game. Dabbadie, who had an RBI base hit at the plate, started in the circle and struck out six batters over three innings while Coblentz, who roped a triple and scored twice, pitched two innings of relief with three strikeouts. Little went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs while Spangler went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Centeno went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs while Rosales went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Earl went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, Torres went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs, and senior Laurel Piper went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run. Rangsiyawong went 2-for-3 with a double while Lewis and Morales each recorded a hit and an RBI.
JBHS (11-2 overall, 3-0 in league) will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta for a league game on Tuesday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on March 30.
BURBANK
The Bulldogs recently posted a convincing 14-1 Pacific League victory at Muir High in Pasadena. Individual statistics were not reported to the Burbank Leader by the Burbank coaching staff.
Burbank (7-4 overall, 2-1 in league) will visit El Camino Real High in Woodland Hills for a nonleague game on Monday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Glendale on March 28.
