Deken was born in Laguna Beach, California, the only child of Nola Catherine and Harold Jones.
He grew up in Burbank, played football for Burbank High School and graduated in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1953-1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Lee Wood, on March 2, 1954.
In 1964, he and Bill Fisch began Accratronics Seals, Corp., an aerospace manufacturing company located in Burbank. Deken graduated from San Fernando Valley State College with a degree in business administration, all while starting a new business and raising three young boys. He worked at Accratronics for many years, growing the business until he retired and his four children took over the business.
Deken was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, working in his garden and cheering for the Dodgers and USC Trojans.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Margie and his grandson Brice Jones. He is survived by his children Kris (and Jenny) Jones, Corby (and Karleen) Jones, Troy (and Katie) Jones and Alicha (and Pete) Ens; his grandchildren Justin Jones, Camber Jones, Daniella Borah, Jayna Jones, Trevor Jones, Karina Morgan, Taylor Ens, Emily Jones, and Brett Jones; and his great-grandchildren Elora Jones, Link Jones, Aria Morgan, Rowan Morgan and Madison Borah.
A memorial service will be held at Granada Hills First Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 24, at 11:00 a.m.
