Bears Blank Muir; Bulldogs Lose Twice

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ soccer team tied visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 2-2, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Junior Jailyn Turner and sophomore Quiana Laughlin each scored one goal while senior captain Nicole Jimenez and freshman Samantha Sizemore were each credited with an assist.
The Bears previously routed host Muir High in Pasadena in a league matchup, 8-0, as Sizemore registered a hat trick. Laughlin tallied one goal and one assist, senior captains Kelani Roy and Julia Narmore, senior Sofia Samuelson and Jimenez each scored once, and junior Graciela Gomez, junior Nadia Aguilar and sophomore Ella Sage each had one assist.
Third-place JBHS visited fourth-place Pasadena yesterday; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bears (11-4-1 overall, 8-2-1 in league) will host Arcadia on Tuesday, Jan. 31, before visiting rival Burbank for their regular-season finale on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Burbank High School sophomore Nicole Shamiryan and the Bulldogs will host Glendale in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs recently suffered consecutive Pacific League losses, falling to visiting Pasadena, 5-0, on Tuesday and to host Arcadia, 6-0, last week.
Seventh-place Burbank visited sixth-place Hoover yesterday; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bulldogs (3-11 overall, 2-9 in league) will conclude the regular season by hosting a pair of league matchups against Glendale on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and rival Burroughs on Thursday, Feb. 2.
