Bulldogs, Bears Enter Rivalry Game With 2-5 Records

The Burbank High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated visiting Glendale High, 55-52, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as senior captain Sattwik Banerjee amassed 31 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, two steals and two assists.
Freshman Evan Baker registered six points, four boards, two assists and one steal, senior Steven Harutyunian tallied six points, two assists and one rebound, and sophomore Kevin Dehbashian finished with five points and three boards. Senior Nathan Figueroa sank a 3-pointer, senior Ashot Danielian recorded two points, four rebounds and one steal, and junior Mike Gutierrez scored two points. Junior Omar Payind collected five boards, four assists, two steals and one block, senior Liam Baker produced three rebounds, one steal and one assist, and senior Dante Shahbazian had one steal, one board and one assist.
The Bulldogs previously lost a league game against visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 66-49. Banerjee posted a double-double with 25 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks while Payind poured in 10 points with three boards, one block and one assist. Harutyunian registered four points, three rebounds and one assist, Dehbashian finished with three points, four boards and one assist, and Danielian tallied three points and one steal. Shahbazian recorded two points, two rebounds and one block while Gutierrez produced two points, six boards, two assists and one steal.
Burbank hosted Burroughs High in an intracity rivalry league matchup Friday night; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bulldogs (6-12 overall, 2-5 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league contest on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m.

Burroughs High School’s Landon Everheart finished with four points in a Pacific League game against Glendale last week.

The Bears lost their seventh consecutive game after falling to visiting Arcadia, 77-58, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Sam Horning racked up 18 points, one steal, one rebound and one assist while Chase Kardosh poured in 14 points with three assists, two boards and one steal. Tyrell Burrell registered eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal, Jagger Topp finished with seven points, three steals, three assists and one board, and Jacob Samontina tallied six points, one rebound and one assist. Landon Everheart scored two points with three boards, two blocks and one steal while Thomas Mahoney produced two points, one rebound and one assist. Arthur Gabrieylan had one point and three boards while Elden Jackson collected four rebounds and one steal.
JBHS lost at Pasadena, 83-60, in a league matchup last Saturday as Horning poured in 20 points with a pair of assists. Kardosh registered 10 points, three boards and two assists while Topp scored eight points with three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Samontina recorded two points, one steal, one board and one assist while Jackson had two points. Everheart and Gabrieylan each collected two rebounds while Mahoney produced one board.
Burroughs was previously edged at Glendale in a league game, 63-62, as Horning amassed 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kardosh recorded 15 points, six boards and six assists, Samontina poured in eight points with four assists and two steals, and Topp tallied six points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Everheart finished with four points, two boards, one block and one steal while Gabrieylan produced two points and two rebounds. Jack-son collected two boards and two assists while Burrell had one rebound.
