Burroughs, Burbank Open League This Week

The Burroughs High School varsity boys’ soccer team lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 4-0, in a Ralph Brandt Tournament game on Wednesday.
The Bears edged visiting La Cañada, 3-2, in a tournament game on Monday, as junior Dominic Quijada, junior Joseph Earl and sophomore Danny Pascual each scored once.
JBHS was previously shut out by La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena, 2-0, last Saturday, after routing North Valley Military Institute of Sun Valley, 10-0, to open the tournament last Friday.
Burroughs (4-2 overall) opened Pacific League action by hosting Glendale yesterday; the game ended after the Burbank Leader’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Bears will host Hoover High of Glendale in a league game on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

BURBANK

The Bulldogs School snapped a two-game losing streak by blanking visiting Alemany High of Mission Hills, 3-0, in a nonleague game on Tuesday. Senior Gabriel Mier recorded a pair of goals, junior George Atallah scored once and senior Giancarlos Vitery was credited with an assist. Meanwhile, junior goalie Hayk Tovmasyan earned the shutout win.
Burbank was edged at Schurr High in Montebello, 2-1, in a nonleague game last Saturday, as Atallah scored the lone goal on an assist by senior Erik Gharibian.
The Bulldogs previously lost a nonleague game at Alhambra, 5-1, as Mier scored the lone goal on a penalty kick.
