Bulldogs Beat Glendale; Bears Fall Twice

The Burbank High School varsity girls’ tennis team collected a Pacific League victory over visiting Glendale, 13-5, on Tuesday.
No. 1 singles Sena Hammel (6-0, 6-0, 6-0) and No. 2 Bernadette Hovhanasyan (6-3, 6-3, 6-1) each swept, while No. 3 Ariana Khougaeva won a set, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles team of senior Nairi Zeytounzian and junior Brianna Khobramasihi (6-2, 6-0), the No. 2 tandem of senior Ellen Petrosyan and junior Molly Foenander (6-4, 6-3), and the No. 3 duo of sophomores Chihiro Kato and Jessica Han (7-6, 7-5) each won a pair of sets.
The Bulldogs will continue league action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m.

BURROUGHS

Burroughs High School’s Abigail Stell and her doubles partner Lindsey Mazarei (not pictured) collected the lone victory against Crescenta Valley in a league match earlier this week.

The Bears lost a Pacific League match on Tuesday against visiting Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta, 17-1. The No. 1 doubles team of Lindsey Mazarei and Abigail Stell won the lone set, 7-6 (7-3).
Burroughs was previously edged by host Glendale in a league contest after tying 9-9 but losing by total games, 82-69. No. 2 singles Hannah Lewis (7-6, 6-2) and No. 3 Ashley Sinovai (6-0, 6-4) each won a pair of sets, while No. 1 singles Elane Shane won a set, 6-4. The No. 1 doubles team of Stell and Mazarei (6-3, 6-2) and the No. 2 duo of Kaitlyn Glaim and Ava Marye (6-3, 6-4) each added a pair of wins.
JBHS will continue league action at Pasadena on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m.
