Bears Fall at Arcadia; Bulldogs Visit CVHS

The Burroughs High School varsity girls’ volleyball team was edged in a Pacific League match on Wednesday at Arcadia, 25-18, 13-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-6. Senior Janessa Wareebor led with 15 kills, junior Tawnie Ohrt collected 10 kills, senior Elizabeth Johnson produced six kills and junior Sadie Lomet had five kills.
The Bears (6-9 overall, 5-3 in league) will host Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta in a league match on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3:45 p.m.

BURBANK
The Bulldogs traveled to Crescenta Valley High of La Crescenta on Wednesday for the first in-person Dig Pink Fundraiser since the COVID-19 pandemic to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Burbank ultimately lost the nonleague match, 25-17, 25-8, 25-17, but both programs were winners that evening by raising several hundred dollars for a good cause.
Jazmine Cobb led with seven kills and eight digs, while Jolene Ngo racked up 21 digs, one kill and one ace. Astoria Torres tallied two kills and two blocks, Raquel Fox registered two aces and one kill, and Addison Ritner produced one kill and one block. Quinn Cramer posted four blocks, one kill and one dig, Isabella Barska recorded four assists, two digs and one ace, and Alyssa Ponsones finished with four assists, three digs and one ace. Samantha Artega, Yara Khozahi and Alison Molloy each had one dig.
