Overnight Road Work Set to Begin May 19

Portions of Front Street will undergo intermittent overnight construction beginning Sunday, May 19, as part of the Front Street Protected Bikeway Project.

Construction will be conducted between First Street and Burbank Boulevard and is expected to run approximately two weeks and end Monday, June 3. There will be a break in work for the Memorial Day Holiday. Closures will be staggered to allow the 5 Freeway ramps on Front Street to remain open through all phases of construction.

Street closures will occur during the following dates and times:

• Sunday, May 19, from 9 p.m. to Monday, May 20, at 5 a.m.

• Monday, May 20, from 9 p.m. to Tuesday, May 21, at 5 a.m.

 • Sunday, June 2, from 9 p.m. to Monday, June 3, at 5 a.m.

Vehicle access will be maintained at all other times with traffic control procedures in place. Bus transit access will also be maintained between downtown Burbank and the Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station.

As a priority project under the Complete Our Streets Plan, the Front Street Protected Bikeway will provide east-west connectivity for bicyclists between the Downtown Metrolink Station and downtown Burbank. Construction will consist of striping, signage, bollards and concrete K-rail barriers. It will also connect future development to the LaTerra Select — 777 Front St. — sidewalk-level Class IV Bikeway and the Burbank Bridge.

For questions or concerns regarding the construction and project, contact Senior Transportation Planner Chris Buonomo at cbuonomo@burbankca.gov.
