The Burroughs High School varsity softball team lost at Woodbridge High in Irvine 4-3 in its CIF Southern Section Division III opener on May 2.
Senior Emerson Coblentz pitched five innings with four strikeouts, while freshman Valentina Reyes pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Sophomore Karlee Earl went 3-for-4 with a double, while junior Chloe Centeno recorded a double and a run. Freshman Sophie Rangsiyawong produced a hit, an RBI and a run, senior Alyssa Rosales finished with a hit and two RBIs, and senior Gizelle Rangsiyawong registered a hit and a run. Junior Alyssa Morales contributed a hit and a walk, while seniors Phoebe Spangler and Eliza Torres each tallied a base hit.
Burroughs finished the campaign third in the Pacific League tournament and second in league with a 7-2 record (21-7 overall).
BURBANK
The Bulldogs lost at Paraclete High in Lancaster 12-2 in their CIF Southern Section Division IV opener on May 2 as senior Kara Valencia blasted a two-run home run in the first inning.
Burbank finished the campaign fourth in the Pacific League tournament and third in league with a 5-2 record (12-13 overall).
